BJ Rathur

B.J. Rathur has a unique art style that mixes Pop Culture and abstract with vivid color and a sense of darkness. Each piece of art incorporates undertones of mortality, surrealism, and even science fiction; these elements resonate throughout much of his work. Although his style may seem serious, his wild sense of originality and humor deliver thought-provoking emotion with a touch of fun.

At the age of 14, B.J. began taking advanced art classes that built a solid foundation of expression and creativity. As his passion flourished, he enrolled in the Arts program at the University of Georgia and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Computer Animation. As a contemporary American Illustrator and Fine Artist, B.J. puts a spin on his art with his background in both traditional and computer media. Rathur is very dedicated to his work, often using a variety of mediums including acrylic, watercolor, and India ink. Often, his highly-detailed drawings and paintings are character-based and combine the contemporary with the aesthetics of Pre-Columbian art.
